Pillar E - Screening support
SUN PROTECT SCAN™
An optional skin-check journey for workers: consent first, guided photo capture, then educational guidance on when to see a professional, with referral into clinical care.
How it works
Step 1
Consent
Workers choose to take part. Consent is specific, recorded and can be withdrawn at any time.
Step 2
Guided capture
On-screen guidance for distance, light and focus; optional clip-on lens for clearer images.
Step 3
Educational guidance
Plain-language guidance on what to watch and when to see a professional.
Step 4
Referral
Workers can request a referral to a clinician. Follow-up stays between the worker and the clinician.
What SCAN is, and what it is not
SCAN is
- Screening support and educational guidance
- A prompt on when to see a professional
- A route into clinical care through referral
- Private: employers see aggregated participation only, never individual results
SCAN is not
- A substitute for an examination by a health professional
- An answer about what a spot is. SCAN does not diagnose any condition.
- A reason to delay seeing a doctor if you are worried
Privacy by design (POPIA)
Health information is special personal information under POPIA. SCAN is built around that.
- Explicit, versioned, per-purpose consent before any image is taken
- Individual results never visible to employers
- Employer reports suppress any group smaller than 5 workers
- Images stored privately with short-lived access links
- Withdrawal of consent triggers anonymisation
- Every access to health information is logged
SCAN is in pilot preparation. The demo on this site uses a simulated engine and synthetic data only.
Add screening support to your programme
SCAN is available as an add-on to Professional and Enterprise programmes after a pilot.
