SUN PROTECT™

How to use

Apply it right. Reapply every 2 hours.

Sunscreen only works if enough goes on, early enough, and often enough. Here is the routine for outdoor crews.

Five steps to apply it properly

  1. Teaspoon-sized amount of white sunscreen dispensed into a worker's open palmAI illustration
    1

    Apply before you go out

Put it on dry skin about 15 minutes before the shift starts outside, so it settles before you sweat.

    Use enough

About a teaspoon (5 ml) for the face, ears and neck, and a teaspoon for each exposed arm. Two pumps from a Sun Station is about one teaspoon. A full outdoor day uses about 35 ml.

    Cover the places people miss

Ears, the back of the neck under the hard hat, the backs of the hands and the tops of the feet if exposed.

    Reapply every 2 hours

Most sites call it at 10:00, 12:00 and 14:00. Reapply straight away after heavy sweating, washing or towel drying.

Use it with the other four steps

Seek shade, slip on a shirt, slap on a hat and slide on sunglasses. Sunscreen supports them; it does not replace them.

From the label

Directions for use

Apply generously to all exposed skin 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply every 2 hours and after sweating or towel drying.

Warnings

For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes; if contact occurs, rinse well with water. Stop use if irritation occurs. Keep out of reach of children. Do not stay too long in the sun, even while using a sunscreen.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Keep vehicle stock in the cubby or a cooler box, not on the dashboard. Do not use after the expiry date.

SPF 50 broad spectrum (UVA/UVB). Every skin type needs protection: darker skin burns less easily, but UV still harms the eyes and skin and adds to heat strain. See a clinic about any spot that changes or a sore that does not heal.
